Quality Assurance Program Pictorial Offset's quality program is led by the 20 principles of ISO. These principles cover the entire manufacturing operation. Pictorial Offset Corporation was the first printer in the world to receive dual ISO Quality (ISO 9000 series) and Environmental (ISO 14000 series) certification in 1998. At Pictorial Offset, print quality is the responsibility of everybody involved on a job, to make sure our work meets or exceeds our customers' expectations. Pictorial has routine quality checks throughout the entire process, including PMS drawdowns, matchprints, color Keys, Press O.K.'s, densitometer readings, and supervisor pulls (every 15 minutes) throughout the run. Pictorial Offset's quality philosophy involves a defect prevention approach rather than inspecting quality into the product at a later stage. This philosophy is implemented by having trained and qualified associates and Process Instructions that define how checks will be included in Process Instructions as necessary. Records of quality checks will be used as the basis of feedback for process quality improvement. Process Instructions include workmanship standards, define the equipment to be used, and make reference to visual aids, samples, and standards, where applicable. Wherever possible, quantitative measures are used for monitoring processes. Control chart techniques are used when deemed appropriate as the basis for process control action. |
